Title: Staff Accountant

Location:New York, NY Salary:: $35-45K (DOE)

Job Description

Reinsurance Firm is seeking an Accountant to work in their Property & Casualty group. Compensation for this position will depend upon experience. The idea candidate will have 1-3 years of accounting experience. Any reinsurance or property/casualty experience is a plus. This is a temp to perm opportunity. Compensation ranges from $40-45K. Some of the position’s main responsibilities include:

Primary Responsibilities

• General accounting duties; general ledger, journal entries • Recording of reinsurance assumed transactions, premiums, commissions, and loss payments from ceding insurance companies • Follow up on collections or premium installments and adjustments • Processing of loss payment and reconciliation of paid losses to run losses • Processing of administrative expenses and cash reconciliations • Assist with quarterly and annual GAAP and statutory accounting reports

Job Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree in Accounting a must • 2 years of general accounting experience • Insurance/Reinsurance experience especially in Property Casualty a plus
