We are currently recruiting for an Underwriting Regional Manager in Scottsdale, AZ. This is a newly created role and is a great opportunity to join a growing and successful company. In this role you will function as both the office leader and the Regional Underwriting Manager for the underwriters on the team. As the office leader, you will lead, motivate, and mentor a team of talented employees who write Professional Liability, Technology E&O, and Cyber/Privacy.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including brokers, regional underwriters, managers and regional executives
  • Manage a team of Underwriters, ensuring individual productivity and quality objectives are met
  • Provide day-to-day coaching and development to the team and manage underperformance when necessary
  • 25% + focused on production; including Underwriter referrals as necessary
  • Act as an escalation point for both employee matters and underwriting-related concerns
  • Identify underperforming brokers and renewal books and proactively seek ways to drive improvements by engaging team and stakeholders
  • Assist hiring managers with recruiting, developing and motivating the team
  • Handle employee matters and/or performance issues as appropriate
  • Enable succession for key roles through active mentoring and development
  • Serve as a key point of contact and collaborate with Corporate Services:
    • Coordinate local and remote manager input to drive success in space planning and future headcount projections
    • Select local office vendors and/or contribute to national vendor selections to provide necessary office services
    • Manage office expenses in-line with approved budgets

 Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of Underwriting leadership experience with at least one of the following products: Professional Liability, Technology E&O, and Cyber/Privacy insurance
  • 2+ years of recent people management experience is preferred
  • Ability to influence and drive team members’ performance and development
  • Demonstrable drive, customer obsession, self-motivation and determination to achieve key performance objectives
  • Thrives in metric-driven environment; able to meet and exceed objective production goals
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment; ability to effectively interact with all levels
