We are currently recruiting for a Underwriting & Portfolio Analytics Lead in NYC (Midtown) or Hartford, CT. This position is hybrid and requires 2 days in office per week. As the Portfolio Analytics Lead, you will spearhead a dynamic team dedicated to propelling the business forward through data-driven insights and analytics. This role is pivotal and fast-paced within the US underwriting team, tasked with the creation, enhancement, and upkeep of essential business intelligence, as well as the refinement of predictive and descriptive capabilities. This position is perfectly suited for someone who is deeply passionate about leveraging data and analytics to drive decision-making and is committed to the relentless enhancement of processes and results. You will be charged with devising innovative approaches, conveying your vision in a clear and impactful manner to key stakeholders, and ensuring the fruition of these visions. 150K – 200K Base + Bonus + Benefits Package
Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of Analysts & Senior Analysts dedicated to providing data insights and pioneering new tools/capabilities for the product and underwriting divisions.
- Collaborate intimately with senior leadership to comprehend business strategies and aid in directing and bolstering strategic initiatives through persuasive recommendations based on advanced analytics and data science.
- Forge a strong partnership with the data team to augment and refine existing reporting assets, with a strategic shift towards PowerBI.
- Development and enhancement of underwriting models, which includes the use of third-party data to evaluate risk quality and determine pricing sufficiency for potential underwriting actions.
Requirements:
- A degree in STEM or a related field.
- 6-10 years of experience in insurance analytics, with a preference for Small Commercial experience.
- Advanced skills in utilizing complex datasets for creating analytical processes, including model design, development, and deployment. Experience in mentoring to enhance the skills of others.
- Proven leadership abilities, with strong communication, influence, and team-building skills.
- Technical Skills needed:
- Extensive experience with PowerBI, with a preference for a background in data visualization and presentation.
- A solid foundation in creating and implementing robust business intelligence tools for both technical and non-technical users.
- Significant experience with analytical tools, programming languages, and databases (e.g., R, Python, SQL), with the ability to make models operational for users with varying levels of technical expertise.
