We are currently recruiting for a Complex Claims MPL Professional in Boston, MA (hybrid – in-office 2 days Remote 3 days). The Complex Claims Specialist will manage mid to high-severity primary Miscellaneous Professional Liability claims through resolution. This encompasses a range of insured entities, such as insurance agents, property managers, tax preparers, and various consultants. The role oversees all facets of the claims and litigation process, including collaborating with both external and internal stakeholders. 125K – 150K Base + Bonus + Benefits Package
Responsibilities:
- Handle and resolve complex mid- to high-severity claims, including all stages of litigation.
- Drive litigation best practices to support defense strategies on litigated matters.
- Independently draft coverage correspondence, reservation of rights and denial letters.
- Review and analyze claim documentation and legal filings.
- Apply expert knowledge and experience to achieve favorable claim outcomes through investigation, negotiation, and alternative dispute resolution methods.
- Identify emerging exposures and trends.
- Detect suspected fraudulent claims and partner with the special investigations unit.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive claim files in compliance with company policy and relevant regulations.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to team members.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in Professional Liability and/or Specialty/Financial lines claims handling.
- Bachelor’s degree required; JD preferred.
- Demonstrated success in managing complex claim outcomes through thorough investigation, negotiation, and effective leadership during litigation.
- Advanced expertise in coverage related to MPL claims.
- Deep understanding of litigation processes and strong negotiation abilities.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills.
- Advanced analytical capabilities.
- Capacity to advance product innovation or expand knowledge across business areas through cross-functional training or projects.
- Exhibits confidence and sound judgment when addressing complex or high-severity issues with insureds, attorneys, and brokers.
- Experience in attending and leading mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
- Demonstrates assertiveness and skill in resolving challenging matters involving insureds, attorneys, and brokers.
