We are currently recruiting for a VP Management Liability Practice Leader - Private & Non-profit in the NY area (NYC or Westchester office - hybrid schedule). The VP will lead the underwriting for Private D&O, EPL, Fiduciary and Crime products through Digital and Traded channels.  Key Responsibilities include Leadership and collaboration, appetite, risk selection & forms, limits, aggregation, authority, training, emerging risk and distribution engagement. 180K – 220K Base + Bonus + Benefits Package.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement a strategy to qualify, select and assess risk which aligns with underwriting controls.
  • Build & maintain risk evaluation, UW engine, guidelines, scoring and third-party data.
  • Ensure forms are fit for competitive and risk management purposes
  • Engage directly with internal and external distribution partners to execute the business plan, maintain knowledge of the trading environment and drive product development.
  • Become the subject matter expert on strategic underwriting issues and act as the underwriting spokesperson in the industry.
  • Deliver strategies to maintain and expand appetite to drive growth.
  • Set individual risk, concentration risk and aggregate limit strategies.
  • Deploy authority and set training agenda for team.
  • Set target referral trigger strategy and referral volume KPI.
  • Collaborate with Claims, UW and Actuarial to ensure a clear view of the underwriting roadmap, and challenges and opportunities to loss ratios.
  • Regular review of analysis of loss cost KPI’s.
  • Strong management and leadership abilities with a focus on recruiting and retaining best talent and capitalizing on the existing strengths within the organization.

Requirements:

  • 10 years+ operating at a leadership level as an expert in small business & digital Underwriting. CPCU or RPLU designation a plus, but not required.
  • Strategic mindset and ability to develop long term underwriting strategies which evolve with changing markets.
  • Innovative with the ability to develop and implement underwriting solutions that lead in the market.
  • Entrepreneurial outlook and commercial sensibilities to apply broad thinking to business issues.
  • Strong ‘board room’ presence with maturity, confidence, and experience to interact effectively with various levels of personnel/management both internally and externally.
  • Advanced communication skills, consensus building and presentation skills.
  • Written and oral presentations, clearly communicate technical issues in simple, understandable terms.
